Reimbursement
Dutch insurance

If your doctor (GP) suspects a certain a diagnosis (such as an anxiety disorder or depression), he will refer you. This referral letter makes reimbursement of your treatment by the health insurer possible. If a (BIG registered) psychologist in the intake phase actually establishes such a diagnosis, the care will be reimbursed. Whether there is a diagnosis depends on the nature and seriousness of your complaints.

With a referral and a certain DSM-V diagnosis, the treatment of Psycheheal is 100% reimbursed if you have an EHIC or are insured for your health with AON. Unfortunately when you have a Dutch  insurance cover only a part (often around 60% ore more) of the costs. The percentage of the treatment costs covered by a policy in kind differs per health insurer. You can  contact the  insurancecompany directly, to check how much they cover, since you also have to check if they have to give permission before you start the therapy.  â€‹The reason not all costs are reimbursed is that Psycheheal offers contract-free treatment within the basic generalist mental healthcare (BG-GGZ). There are various reasons for this; for those who are interested, this is clearly stated at this website. This is the reason the waitingtime is usually shorter than with colleques with a contract. But you can ask your insurance company if they know a psychologist with a contract with them with a short waitinglist too. They will cover 100% of their care, after you payed your  excess ('eigen risico' in Dutch = 'own risk'),  which you first have to pay anyways .

Please read the following tips and follow up on them!

Tip 1

Check your excess ('eigen risico') Be aware that you always have to pay your excess (in Dutch 'eigen risico') first before any reimbursement is made by the health insurer. Check how much this is before starting therapy.

Tip 2

Check the authorization for non-contracted healthcare providers. Some health insurers require authorization prior to treatment with a non-contracted healthcare provider. Be sure to ask your health insurer about this as well.

Tip 3

Check your policy conditions. At the end of the year, it's time to closely examine your health insurance and review your policy conditions. This is the moment when you can switch to another insurer.

Tip 4

Spread your excess costs. You can ask your insurance company to spread your excess costs ('eigen risico' in Dutch means 'own risk' in Englisch) over the year and pay per month. Contact your insurance company to check if they (still) offer this option. Often this has to be agreed upon before the start of the year.

Reimbursement non-Dutch insurance

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

If you have EHIC, sessions will be fully reimbursed. Psycheheel sends the invoices directly to the insurance, no hazzle for you. What I need from you is a copy of your EHIC and a reverral from your GP  for BG- GGZ. Treatment costs and structure is just like the reimbursed care for the Dutch, but you will have no costs.

Non European cliënts with an AON Student Insurance

If you're an non-european international student and you have the AON Student Insurance recommended by the Hanze or RuG, in most cases you will have coverage for 9 sessions without excess. This means that the treatment of up to 9 sessions can be fully reimbursed.

Note: You must obtain permission from the insurance before starting the treatment, with a referral from a doctor or psychologist (treatment plan). Psycheheel will send the bill to you personally. You can sent it to your insurance company.

Other

The Brittish variant of an EHIC, works just like an EHIC. In other cases please check with your insurance company beforehand, what how and if they reimburse treatment. Psycheheel will send the bill to you personally. You can sent it to your inurance company. You will need a referral letter from your general practitioner (GP) anyways to get it insured.

In 2019 the Netherlands have treaties with the following Non EU countries, which means Insurance works just like the EHIC (see the text above) : Australia; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Cape Verde; North Macedonia; Montenegro; Serbia; Tunisia; Turkey and Switzerland.
