ABOUT ME

Marjan Krijgsveld (1975)
Psycheheel is my solo practice, where I am both the therapist and the person who handles all interactions with clients, including you. This small-scale, unique, and personal approach fits me well. I am a BIG-registered GZ psychologist, meaning I am thoroughly trained to provide targeted short-term treatments. I work as briefly and quickly as possible, but as long as needed. My approach is characterized by a clear, warm, and engaged manner of treatment. I listen carefully and strive to truly understand you. I often hear that I exude calmness, which creates space for you to share your story.

I am well-trained in 'standard' treatments as prescribed by guidelines, but am also open to alternative approaches and deviations from protocols. This allows me to better meet the needs of each unique individual I work with. This is why I love my profession: each time I get to know a new person and their individuality, and together we explore the strength behind their issues.

Regarding myself, my need for personal and professional development is a defining characteristic. In addition to development, care, sustainability, and creativity are important values to me. I am also entrepreneurial and enjoy new challenges, as reflected in my work experience.
Work experience
In 2019, I officially started my own practice, Psycheheel. Earlier, in 2014, I had plans to begin, but I put them on hold when I got a job as a student psychologist at the University of Groningen (RUG). I enjoyed working at the SSC of RUG, where I provided individual therapy, assertiveness training, and the “Voluit Leven” group (based on ACT). I also developed workshops such as 'Worry Wise' for students and 'Waardevol Werken' for study advisors. Additionally, I represented RUG in the national working group of student psychologists and supervised interns. A third of my clients were international students, giving me extensive experience in treating people from different backgrounds in English.

Before my time at RUG, I worked for seven years at Toevluchtsoord, now Wender. This was then a shelter for women who are victims of violence in dependent relationships. In addition to diagnostics and treatment, I supervised teams of mentors and completed my GZ training there. The target group and staff often had a migration background, which taught me to work sensitively to cultural differences. Together with Interpsy, I also established the 'Vroeger en Verder' course for complex trauma survivors.

From 2004 to 2007, I worked at the Whiplash Institute Netherlands, where I conducted neuropsychological screenings, neurophysiological research (QEEG), and neuro(bio)feedback. The clients were usually individuals with whiplash or brain injuries, but I also used neurofeedback for ADHD. In 2007, I founded a neurofeedback department within AD(h)D Noord.

My career began at Accare, child and adolescent psychiatry in Groningen, where, after my internship, I was allowed to stay on as a cognitive behavioral therapist and research assistant.
