PROCEDURE

Registration
You can register digitally using the contact form. You will then be contacted as soon as possible via Zorgmail, a secure email system. Before the intake, you will receive an invitation to fill out a complaints list to provide a general overview of the nature and severity of your issues.
If you have previously had an intake with another (student) psychologist, it is helpful to request the intake report and share it with Marjan no later than one week before your intake.
Intake & treatment proposal
During the 60-minute intake session, the focus is on gaining a clear understanding of your complaints and getting to know you as a person. You will be asked about your life history and experiences across various areas of life. Based on this, an intake report and a proposed treatment plan will be created. This plan includes the conclusions from the intake, a complaint analysis, the diagnosis, and a proposal for the treatment method and format. In the second session, we will discuss this plan and finalize it together.
Setting
When you think of treatment by a psychologist, you probably envision the classic setting: a conversation between the psychologist and client in two comfortable chairs. At Psycheheel, this approach is frequently used, and a pleasant space is available for it. However, you can also choose a more active format, such as working at a table or having a session outdoors, where we gain insights while walking. Movement, combined with the relaxing and healing effects of nature, can help uncover new insights and find different paths. If you have a need for this, Psycheheel also offers the opportunity to incorporate spirituality—broadly defined—into the treatment. You can learn more about the various treatment methods here.
E-health
There is a wealth of self-help resources available online. Before seeing a psychologist, you might find these helpful, and they can also serve as additional support alongside your treatment. Psycheheel recommends the following programs:
Additionally, there are various apps that can assist you in managing or overcoming your issues. Ask about these if you wish to use them alongside or prior to your treatment. Please inform Marjan of any programs you have already used or plan to use.
Treatment
After the treatment plan is established, the treatment can begin. The treatment plan outlines the method, frequency, and duration of the sessions. Typically, sessions last 45 minutes and are usually held weekly or biweekly. EMDR sessions last 90 minutes. The number of consultations ranges from 3 to 12. Towards the end of the treatment, the frequency often decreases. Psycheheel prefers face-to-face sessions, but online intake or treatment is also an option.
Evaluation
The treatment can be evaluated and adjusted at any desired time. There is actually room for adjustment in every session, so please discuss it if you want to change direction.
At the end of the treatment period, an evaluation meeting is always scheduled. In this discussion, we review what the treatment has achieved for you, what you have learned, what you might still need, and how you can continue to help yourself. For longer treatments of around 12 sessions, we can also schedule a specific evaluation meeting midway through the process.
Conclusion
Once you are ready and willing, we will conclude the treatment. The frequency of sessions may have decreased towards the end of the treatment. It is also possible that the treatment finishes quickly, but you still want the option to return later. This follow-up option is almost always available; you won’t need to rejoin the waiting list. If you were referred by your GP, I will inform them of the treatment outcome, unless you object to this.
